Located at 158 South Main Street in Mount Clemens, the building formerly known as Second Hand Rose Thrift Store became available for purchase. Second Hand Rose is moving to northbound Gratiot at Metro Parkway for a higher traffic area. When the building owners heard that the Macomb Foster Closet needed a location, they invited us in for a tour.
We quickly realized that this was a perfect building for the Closet. Not far from our current location, it has three times the space, and an open retail layout allowing our volunteers to expand direct services to help even more children.
Purchasing this building is significantly cheaper in the long run compared to paying commercial leasing rates anywhere. Other human service agencies are also nearby providing services to our community. With children in foster care receiving services in this new location, we would be effectively creating a social services corridor in the heart of Macomb County.
The community has been so generous over the years but we need your financial support now more than ever to make this a reality. Every gift, any size, will make a huge difference. In addition to individuals, civic groups, schools, churches, and businesses can also be a part of the solution. Anyone can donate or do a fundraising drive.
We have an ambitious goal of raising $350,000 to move in which includes $100,000 down, $200,000 in renovation costs, and $50,000 in first-year expenses. We know it is an ambitious goal but with your help, we can do it!
Children in our community are looking to you to help today.
